Seculine Digital Action Level Seculine & Kaiser have just introduced Action Level, the first digital camera "spirit" level. It fits onto any standard hotshoe and can be used with most of today"s digital SLRs (except Sony/Minolta).
Action Level has five LED lights in a traffic light style arrangement to indicate levelling: green in the middle for when the camera is completely level, amber and red on both sides for when there is a minor or larger deviation from exact level. There is also a facility to adjust both sensitivity and brightness and to calibrate the level point if required.
Action Level is especially useful in poor light, at night or when holding the camera at a high position for over head shots - generally in all situations where a traditional spirit level would be difficult or impossible to see. The LED display is located just above eye level, it can easily be seen when looking through the viewfinder.
Action Level can be used in portrait and landscape formats. In many cases - due to its compact design - it can stay on the hot shoe when the camera"s flash pops up.
The tiny unit is powered by two CR 1220 batteries lasting about 20 hours at medium brightness level or even 30 hours in power safe mode. Four batteries are supplied with the unit, that will add only 5 grams to the camera"s weight. |
